Reacquisition of citizenship of the Republic of Moldova

Former citizens of the Republic of Moldova, permanently domiciled in the Republic of Austria or the Slovak Republic, who wish to regain the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, can submit a respective application to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Vienna.
To regain citizenship, the applicant will present:
- autobiography in Romanian, indicating the period of residence in the Republic of Moldova and establishment of residence abroad, data on marital status, place of residence, work activity, data on close relatives: parents, husband (wife), children, reason for loss of citizenship;
- the original of the certificate regarding the renunciation of the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova or the copy of the decision regarding the withdrawal of the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova (if the nominated document exists);
- valid identity document (passport, bulletin) in possession.
- the document that provides proof of residence on the territory of another state – for persons who do not reside in the Republic of Moldova, in the original, with a certified translation in Romanian;
- criminal record from the country(ies) of which the applicant is a citizen, duly legalized, with authenticated translation into Romanian;
- criminal record from the applicant’s country of residence. (persons residing on the territory of another state present the respective document from the country of residence as well), duly legalized, with an authenticated translation in Romanian;
- four color photographs of size 3.5 x 4.5 cm.
All documents must be presented in original + 3 photocopies. All documents issued by the competent Austrian or other state bodies must be apostilled and translated into Romanian and authenticated by an authorized translator.
