The strategic directions of activity in the sphere of science and innovation include:

1. Building the rule of law and enhancing the cultural and historical heritage of Moldova in the context of European integration.
2. Capitalizing human, natural and informational resources for sustainable development.
3. Biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, maintaining and strengthening health.
4. Agricultural biotechnologies, soil fertility and food security.
5. Nanotechnologies, industrial engineering, new products, and materials.
6. Making the energy complex more efficient and ensuring energy security, including through the use of renewable resources.

A key institution in the development of science is the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, as the plenipotentiary coordinator of the scientific and innovative activity, the supreme scientific forum of the country, the scientific consultant of the public authorities of the Republic of Moldova.

One of the priority directions of activity of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova is overcoming the isolation of Moldovan scientists from global science. The participation of the Republic of Moldova in the process of creating the single European scientific space contributed to the stabilization of the country’s scientific potential, as well as to the dynamism of the mutually beneficial exchange with the EU scientific community.
