Marriage registration
  • Cost – 45 euro From the day the application is submitted, the marriage date will be agreed with the future spouses within the legal term from 30 to 60 days
Divorce Registration
  • Cost – 145 euro From the day the application is submitted, the date of the divorce will be set by the consular officer within the legal term of 30 days.
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova can apply for marriage registration at the consulate/embassy. In the same way, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova can request the dissolution (divorce) of the marriage, if they have no misunderstandings regarding the upbringing and education of common minor children and regarding the sharing of wealth.
To submit the application for marriage or divorce, the following documents must be submitted in original:
  • identity card with accompanying card or valid Moldovan passport and photocopy (in the case of the new type card, the accompanying card is not required);
  • birth certificates and photocopies (for marriage);
  • Moldovan birth certificates of minor children and photocopies (for divorce);
  • divorce or death certificate of the wife/husband and photocopies, as the case may be (at marriage);
  • marriage certificate (for divorce);
  • The application for marriage/divorce is submitted personally by both spouses/future spouses.
  • The marriage will be registered after the expiration of 30 days from the date of submission of the application, but no more than 60 days. On the expected day, both future spouses will present themselves for the signing of the marriage certificate.
  • The divorce can only be registered after 30 days from the date of submission of the application, in the presence of both spouses, in the absence of material claims or sharing of common assets. In case of misunderstandings regarding the sharing of common assets, the maintenance of common minor children – the divorce is to be carried out exclusively by judicial means. The unmotivated non-appearance of one of the spouses does not entail the annulment of the procedure.
  • The fees will be paid on the day the application is submitted.
  • In case of divorce, each of the spouses is issued an individual divorce certificate, with a different number.

  • If one of the spouses has taken over the name of the other spouse as a result of the marriage, he can keep his name, if he wishes.
