The meeting of the Secretary of State Stela Leucă with the Secretary of State of North Carolina, Elaine F. Marshall

October 11, 2023 – During the meeting, the officials discussed the results of the Republic of Moldova-North Carolina Strategic Partnership over the years as well as the new cooperation opportunities.

The discussions focused on the successes recorded and the good friendly relations developed with the American state of North Carolina in various fields, collaborative programs, as well as people-to-people exchanges that continue to be the basis of this privileged partnership. They also discussed the preparation of the meeting of the Republic of Moldova-North Carolina bilateral cooperation committee in 2024, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the partnership.

Emphasizing the special nature of the relationship between the Republic of Moldova and the American state of North Carolina, the Moldovan diplomat expressed appreciation for Mrs. Marshall’s personal contribution in the development of this dynamic and long-lasting partnership, through which valuable contributions were offered to our country in priority national reforms and fields .

Note: In 1996, the state of North Carolina was selected as an affiliate partner of the Republic of Moldova within the US Partnership Program, under the coordination of the US National Guard Bureau. The program aims to increase the interoperability and responsiveness of US and partner forces to respond to a broad spectrum of security challenges. Later, in addition to the close cooperation between the National Army of Moldova and the National Guard of North Carolina, the civil relations between our country and this American state evolved, in 1999 a bilateral Memorandum of Principles and Procedures of Cooperation was signed with the Government of Chisinau , which established a bilateral Cooperation Committee between the two parties.
